What is your idea of fun

Girl and boy oin car, boy goes off to get help, girl falls asleep, wakes up to hear banging, gets out of the car and madman is bouncing her boyfriends head off the car roof.

Have you ever worked with somebody who is, or was, in a band

No but I did work with someone who was going out with one of the Housemartins (HMV in Leeds when I was 17). It might have been Paul Heaton, then again it might not have been. In fact it might have been an personal urban myth – who knows.

... and these come from around 2006.
When were you born?

March 71

What is your prime musical function in The Validators?

Believing I can sing

What other bands have you been in?

None

How did you come to join The Validators?

Singing with Mark at my wedding

What was the first gig you went to see?

Bruce Springsteen @ Roundhay Park Leeds. My parents lived within walking distance of the park and we could hear sound checks of all the various bands that played there. I went to see some dubious acts there, I must admit. However the thrill I got from being chased down Hill 40 by Hell Angels doing the gig security with hundreds of people who'd broken down the fences whilst 'Borrrrrrn in the USA, I was...' started up was one of the most exciting moments of my life. My beloved brother Mark (Smith not Hibbett) died 2 years ago. He and I shared that moment. His love of music started mine.

And what was the second?

Gary Glitter at St Georges hall, Bradford. I said I saw some dubious acts.

What was the first gig you ever played yourself?

Apart from the wedding hoo haa, The Bull and Gate whilst secretly 8 weeks pregnant with Edie. May 2001.

What was the best gig you ever played? Not sure.

And what was the worst?

Zodiac Mindwarp @ The Charlotte

Do you currently subscribe to any magazines? If so, what are they?

Nope

What are your Top 6 Records That You Bought Within A Year Of Them Being Released (re-releases don't count)?

Erm, I'm very much a girl when it comes to this one. I never know facts like release dates, Album Titles, Song names etc. I just don't care. I like what I like, when I like it. Who gives a toss? Anyhoo. I thought long and hard and this is as close as I can get:
  • Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians - Shooting Rubberbands At The Stars
  • House of Love - House of Love
  • REM - Automatic For The People
  • Bjork - Debut
  • Everything But The Girl - Idlewild (DON'T MIX IT UP WITH THE CRAPPY BAND)
  • Morrissey - Vauxhall + I

Analogue Fun! If The Validators were The Velvet Underground you would be Nico. If The Validators were The Famous Five you would be Anne. If The Validators were G-Force From Battle Of The Planets you would be Princess. Which of these Analogues do you prefer? Why?

Nico (I always think she has a v sexy image and voice so find that a big compliment) Don't know much about Anne, and nada about B O T P

Do you have a more accurate analogue you would like to suggest?

    Too hard

Finally, do you have any webpages of your own you would like to link to?
