When Victor von Doom's mum and dad were
Murdered by the state
He swore an oath to take revenge
And make all mankind pay
He fought the aristocracy
And overthrew their rule
He governed for the people
And was generally quite cool

He wiped out crime and poverty and made his nation safe
And all his subjects had to do was utterly obey

So while Bruce Wayne's pretending
That he wants to talk to girls
Vic von Doom's defending
Latveria from the whole wide world

And while Batman has his demons
Doc Doom does as well
Except his Demons are literally demons
And they're torturing his mother in hell

Which does at least go some way to explaining the fact
He is a little bit of a megalomaniac

Technically speaking this wasn't the first song I wrote for Data and Doctor Doom, but it was the first one I wrote that STAYED in!

It was a bit of a BREAKTHROUGH for how the show would actually WORK - I'd often done the Batman comparison as a joke at Academic Conferences, mostly to wind up Batman fans*, so once I'd realised that that could work as the hook for a SONG my BRANE in turn realised that this sort of thing could work for the whole show too!

* although obviously I do entirely mean it - Batman's just a posh bloke spending his money badly!
