The Last Working Day Of The Month: Issue 10
< issue 9 | issue 11 > |
Hello all, welcome to the TENTH issue of our SPHERE SPANNING newsletter. As mentioned last time, it's early this month because I'm setting off to CIRCUMNAVIGATE THE GLOBE on Monday (really!) so won't be around for the next four weeks. I'll hopefully be able to update the BLOG as we go round. One important thing to note is that if you order anything from the shop while I'm away I won't be able to send anything out until I get back on December 19th, otherwise all should be as normal. EXCITING, isn't it?
GIGS TO COME
This month I shall be playing the following places:
Saturday November 19th - The Fox & Firkin, Lewisham (kicking off the Foxfest all-dayer, onstage at 12.50pm)
Thursday November 23rd - Somewhere in New York! (don't know where yet though - details will be on the webpage!)
Saturday December 10th - Whakatane, New Zealand (my brother's wedding!)
Not the MOST accessible set of dates this month - anybody who attends all three gets AIR MILES!
GIGS WE'VE DONE
Only a couple of gigs this month just gone, but they were GOOD ones. A couple of weekends ago I played the Labour Club in Northampton and had a LOVELY time with the Winston Echo/Retro Spankees LOT, and then next night played at The Light Programme in Stoke Newington and had a GRATE time doing the gig, then ANOTHER GRATE time afterwards lurking around chatting to people. It was all GOOD!
RECORDS
The AAS Christmas Album "Kung Fu Santa With A Christmas Punchbag" is now at The Manufacturers, and should be available at the start of December, though NOT for sale - we're sending loads out to our Industry Mailing List and then handing them out to the various BANDS for giving away, and we're also giving away 50 FREE copies via the AAS website. If you'd like to get one just keep checking http://www.artistsagainstsuccess.com during December and the INFO should appear on their sometime - you'll just need to send us your address and my COLLEAGUE Mr Fleay will send you a copy. It's a FESTIVE GIVEAWAY!
The album sounds DEAD GOOD by the way, all the bands do a Christmas Song and Another Song. We're doing doing "Advent Calendar Of FACT" and "Never Going Back To Aldi's" (both taken from our recent sessions in Cornwall and both Exclusive Tracks, whoo!), and there's also Johnny Domino, Frankie Machine, Plans & Apologies, The Frightened Prisoners Of The Kraken, and Dr Coca Cola McDonalds. It makes me feel all CHRISTMASSY just thinking about it!
RADIO
My radio session for Another Nice Mess went out last week, and it was ODD listening to it online as it went out, tho obviously RATHER PLEASANT. You should be able to listen again to it from http://www.anothernicemess.com/ still, I think. It's always a GRATE show, whether I'm on it or not, and i heartily recommend having a listen!
OTHER THINGS
The main ITEM this month is just to remind everyone of the KARATE POSE scheme. If you've bought a Hey Hey 16K t-shirt, I'd like you to send in a picture of you wearing it whilst striking a KARATE POSE please. Examples are at http://www.mjhibbett.com/karate.htm - come on! Get SHAPE THROWING!
Meanwhile I've been asked to draw your attention to the PETITION at http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/futureroadmender to save Northampton's legendary ROADMENDER from closure. Go to it!
Finally, I had a MEETING the other night with a nice chap from A Major Publishing House about me maybe writing my ROCK MEMOIRS for them! I'm going to have a go at writing a DRAFT whilst I'm away, so we'll see how that goes, but it's all RATHER EXCITING. I'm already practicing the Cradling The Chin POSE for the jacket flap!
And I think that about does it for this month - next issue should be heading your way just before Christmas, so see you then!
Cheers,
Mark
