The Last Working Day Of The Month: Issue 20

< issue 19 issue 21 >
(MJ Hibbett & The Validators FACT, October 1st 2006 )

HOLA and welcome to this slightly delayed TWENTIETH issue of our sun-kissed newsletter. Sorry it's a bit late, I was on holiday!

GIGS TO COME

This month I shall be playing the following places:

Thursday October 12 - The Windmill, London (John Peel Night, playing with Lazarus Clamp)
Friday October 13 - Pinup Flights, Glasgow (Playing at the launch party for the new album by The Plimptons)
Wednesday October 18 - Cafe Iguana, Reading (with The Pines)
Friday October 27 - The Brook Inn, Cleator Moor, Cumbria
Saturday October 28 - University of Sheffield Students' Union, Sheffield (on the main stage at about 4pm)

It's a variety of line-ups for these - London will probably feature Tom on violin, Glasgow's solo, Reading's the White Stripes line-up with Tim drumming, Cleator Moor has us joined again by Tom and then it's the full Validators reunited for Sheffield. We are nothing if not MODULAR!

GIGS WE'VE DONE

This month I compered the last night of the Fortuna Pop! birthday festival - the compere bit wasn't an enormous amount of fun, but it was a lovely night - and then a few nights later popped down to Brighton to play for those delightful people at LOOK-IN. Other than that, all rather quiet!

RECORDS

You can now buy our stuff on iTunes, which is TERRIBLY modern and exciting - check http://www.mjhibbett.com/buy/itunes.htm for details, and of course you can still get stuff directly from us via http://www.mjhibbett.net/buy/ . If you've not got the album yet, why not treat yourself? It's dead good, honest!

In the meantime mixing, mastering and design for the NEXT single continues apace, although we've decided to hang on and release it in the new year now, to make sure we can do everything on PROPERLY.

RADIO

That nice Mr Steve Lamacq played "The Lesson Of The Smiths" (from our Maida Vale session) as the very LAST track on his very LAST Lamacq Live show. We were rather moved, thanks Steve!

OTHER THINGS

It's been a fairly quiet month this month, apart from a rather groovy LIVE review in Plan B magazine, which we were quite pleased about. There's a few new things over on the website (http://www.mjhibbett.com) - The long heralded Halls Of Validation are FINALLY online at http://www.mjhibbett.net/hallsofvalidation/ and we've also got the first of my articles for Sandman Magazine available at http://www.mjhibbett.net/articles/, with the others to follow roughly once a month. There's a new song too, "The Mystery Train", over in the SONGS section, with quite a few more nearing completion.

Meanwhile Mr Rob Manuel and I have been working hard on the video for "The Gay Train" - we've now got a full edit of the whole thing sorted out and we gather again on October 9th to try and finish it all off properly. If we succeed in this endeavour I'll send out one of our irregular mid-month updates to tell you where to find it, as I doubt I'll be able to wait until the next newsletter to show it off!

Finally, after some deliberation, I've started CLONING the BLOG, so that you can now read it on the main webpage AND/OR on the Myspace, should you wish. Hopefully this'll help get the FACT out to all those nice young people who wander by and want to be our friends!

Right then - next time there should be a bit more ROCKING NEWS, but for now thanks for listening, and see you next time!

Cheers,

Mark
