The Last Working Day Of The Month: Issue 21

< issue 20 issue 22 >
(MJ Hibbett & The Validators FACT, November 1st 2006 )

Hello all, and welcome to the TWENTY FIRST issue of our ONE DAY LATE newsletter. Let's make it HAPPEN shall we?

GIGS TO COME

This month I shall be playing the following place:

Thursday November 30 - Brixton Jamm, London (Vic Lambrusco's Cabaret Hour!)

Only the one gig for this month - I'm off to Australia (tonight!!) for a week and a bit, and when I get back I will most likely be completely DONE IN, so it seemed sensible to try and not do too much. There'll be PLENTY of gigs in December though - hoorah!

GIGS WE'VE DONE

It's been BUSY. I kicked off with a John Peel Night gig in Brixton before heading up to Glasgow the next night to play with The Plimptons. These were both excellent fun! The next week Tim and I ROCKED Reading (and then went CLUBBING!), then a few days later I went up and played at Martyn and Susan's wedding. At the end of the next week I was back in London again at The Good Ship, where I was very excited to meet some of Team Art Brut, before heading off the next night for The Lake District. Me, Tom and Tim went up there for a RIOTOUS evening at The Brooke Inn and ended up playing more songs in one night than I think any of us had ever done before. The very next day we got up far too early and headed to Sheffield for our debut on the main stage at Fuzztival and our first full Validators gig in AGES. It was a GRATE day, but I have to report I am now KNACKERED.

RECORDS

I popped into Studio Sonic last week to record a few more demoes for the next album, as the new songs have been gently filtering through my BRANE. I'm hoping to do a few more by the end of the year. I've also been handed a CD of instrumentals by Mr Francis Albert Machine for possible use in the future and plans are AFOOT for The Validators to get JAMMING again very soon!

RADIO

We were on BBC Radio Lincolnshire this week, with The Gay Train, and on Kooba Radio last week Mr Charlie Flowers told his side of the story of How We Met.

OTHER THINGS

The big news of the month is that the video for The Gay Train is FINALLY online, at http://www.mjhibbett.net/gaytrain. So far we've had over 12,000 visitors to the site, plus loads more on the individual YouTube, Myspace video and Google Video sites. Oddly, unlike when Hey Hey 16K came out, we haven't sold many CDs as a result of it. We HAVE however sold an awful lot of t-shirts! For this reason I've put up a special offer on the website (at http://www.mjhibbett.net/buy/special.htm) for people who want a t-shirt AND an album. Re-create the Gay Train Video Experience in the comfort of your own home!

In other video news, whilst I was up in Glasgow I recorded seven songs for Last Night From Glasgow, including a couple of - EXCITEMENT! - Unreleased Songs. You can watch them at http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=LastNightFromGlasgow if you like!

And that's about it for now - as mentioned earlier, I'm on the other side of the planet for the next week and a bit, so shop orders may take a bit longer than usual, but all will be back to normal soon and I'll see you all back here for the next newsletter soon!

Cheers,

Mark
